Michela Roman (b. 1998) is an Italian-Canadian sculptor, working in marble carving, clay modelling, mold making and casting. Roman received her Honours BA at Nipissing University, North Bay, ON, CA, before earning a Masters in Fine Art, Sculpture and Anatomy at the New York Academy of Art, New York, NY. Roman currently lives and works in New York.
Roman is a two time recipient of the Elizabeth Greensheilds Foundation Grant from 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, and a 2023 recipient Carrara Stone Merit Residency, funded by ABC Stone. She is a standing fellow (2021-present) at the Newington Corpsy Foundation, working along side mentor, Greg Wyatt, located in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
In 2025, Roman spoke as an invited panelist at the East Coast Family Office & High Net Worth Conference and is an invited sculptor to the 2025 and 2026 Invitational Lyme Academy Sculpture Retreat. Her sculptures were additionally curated into NYC Culture Club’s 2025 Auction.Spring 2024, Roman exhibited in Future Art Fair, hosted by Loft Projects. Fall 2025, Roman’s sculpture ‘Countless’ will be on display at The Centre for War, Atrocity and Genocide in Ontario, Canada as part of their permanent collection.
Roman has exhibited work in New York, Paris and Canada. Her work has been included in various private collections in New York, Canada and Italy, including; Silverstein Family Collection. Roman is sponsored with a personalized wine label, by Ozymandias Wines.
Roman currently teaches Sculpture and Artistic Anatomy at the New York Academy of Art (NYAA) within Continuing Education, and is a Teaching Assistant (2024-present) in the MFA Stone Carving Course at NYAA.
